Time for Tea?

I've finally got some FO's atlast! Here are the cakes I've been knitting!

I've also been dyeing again and actually got my arse in gear to upload them all to my etsy shop for once!

I've called this pink colourway Ashes of Roses, like the colours of rose petals as they start to dry out and turn brown. I've decided to hold a little birthday contest, if you know the book where I have taken this colourway from then leave a comment with your answer and I will do a drawing from the correct entries at the end of the month, in the event of no correct answers I will do a drawing from all comments on this post, so say something, make a guess, whatever you like!

You could win a choice of handspun yarn or fibre from my etsy store, or a special skein of yarn from my stash!

Edited to add: ok I googled to see what would come up, and yes there is a book with that title, but the book I'm thinking of was published in 1977!

Those tea cakes seriously look good enough to eat! Beautiful, Jo!

Ashes of Roses, nothing comes to mind right off, but then I've not engaged my brain fully this morning :^D... not that 'that' would help much....
All I know is... those are both gorgeously dyed fibres!
XOXOX

Oh, is it Anne of Green Gables? I know I've read about Ashes of Roses in my youth... :0)

Beautiful work, I so love that colourway.

That Battenburg looks good enough to eat!!!

I thought the book title was 'Ashes of Roses' by Mary Jane Auch??? Perhaps it is used somewhere else and I am mistaken.

Can I have one of the blue snowballs? they look delish!
havent a clue about Ashes of Roses, but it reminds me of Pretty in Pink somehow- you remember the 80's film?

Oh, those cakes are making me hungry. No idea about Ashes of Roses, but I used to use a Bourjois rouge called cendres des roses, which I think is the same name.

A (non-knitting) friend of mine says it's "The Thorn Birds," and I'm going to trust her answer since I can't think of a better one myself.

Oh, I know! As soon as I read your colourway name, I thought, "Thorn Birds!" and then I read on for the contest. Racy book, most exciting to read at a young and impressionable age, but almost completely forgotten about till now. Thanks for bringing it up!

Oh! The dress in 'The Thorn Birds'! *flashback to teenage dreams of Ralph de Bricassart* :)

I LOVE the cakes!

Love the cakes! The chocolate roll is my favourite, but then I am a chocaholic ;-)
I have no idea which book might have inspired you...the colours of all your fibre cakes look yummy though (I can see a culinary theme coming on me today...hee hee!), however Ashes of Roses rings a bell with me, but for a different reason altogether... invert the wording and you have Roses of Ashes, in Italian Rose delle Ceneri, which brings me to Rosadelleceneri, the name of the band where my ex R. used to be the singer. We're talking 1983/84 and they were very much Cure/Echo and the Bunnymen/Joy Division/Bauhaus etc inspired...now you've brought me back in time ;-)

I hadn't heard of the book until hearing about it here but it looks worth a read... I'll have to see if I can find my Library card

I love those cakes! They remind me of a knitted picnic set I saw once. So adorable!

The tea cakes are darling. Ashes of Roses is also a gorgeous lacey needlepoint chart that I have 3/4 finished. I love rose colorways.

Those cakes are simply amazing! Good enough to eat.

Ashes of Roses rings a bell though I couldn't put my finger on it. So this isn't my guess.

Reading other's comments took me back to the days of reading the book and being dreamy in-love, heart totally stolen with Father Ralph de Bricassart. When the miniseries came out with Richard Chamberlain as Fr Ralph, my heart was smitten all over again. Perhaps it's time for a re-reading? :-)

I'm thinking either one of the Anne of Green Gables books, or Rebecca of Sunnybrook Farm?

I'll run to my kitchen and put the kettle on at once:)

"The Thorn Birds" by Colleen McCullough.

A friend of mine bought one of your rovings and showed me a photo of the resulting yarn - I love the colours!
