Cloudy skies!

I like the blues in this first batch of fibre, I actually dye 100g at a time in a microwave steamer.

I found a second microwave steamer in a second hand shop, so I usually prepare the second batch while I'm waiting for the first to cook. I'm not trying to make them exactly the same, although this second batch is not quite what I had planned, but it will still compliment the blues, whether I ply them together, or keep them seperate.

These last two, are my favourite dye experiments so far, I can't wait to get spinning them up, maybe later this week, I've still got that cardigan kicking around, the sleeves are in, just the side seams and sleeve seams to go, might even see if I can finish it off this week, now it's there in writing I better go and see where I left it.

Oh, my...those second two photos..with the pinks and the periwinkle....SO my kind of thing. I'm drooling over here, and really wishing I knew how to spin!

I just love the colours in those last lots - very sunset like! I love the green caterpilar as well - very like the 'Very Hungry Caterpilar'! I suppose a microwave steamer would be nice and gentle on the rovings when dyeing them - less risk of felting?

Come back Jo, I miss you :-)

Hope you are having a lovely time at the woolly thing though.

My spinning wheel arrived today and the books you recommended. Will take pictures as soon as I set the thing up, its surprisingly little, suppose thats because it is a traveller :D

Skint now, spent up on wheel, books and the V&A trip.

I love that blue, one of my favourite colours. Would love to see some with the grey, its amazing how the colours change when you spin them together isn't it (says she expertly, having glanced through the Ashford book of carding TWICE:D)

Safe journey home, look forward to hearing all your news.

Love jackie xxx

I think the blues and greys would make a lovely everyday comfy jersey.

What kind of dyes are you using?

Did you have fun at WoolFest? Did you see Natalie of YarnYard, and CelticMemory Jo?

If it were me, I'd play them together. That is a lovely pair! (the first two). I love the muted shades!
